Unsaturated polyester resin was synthesized using Isophthalic acid (IPA), Maleic anhydride (MA) and Propylene glycol (PG). It was modified by Butyl methacrylate as acrylic monomer. Polyester resin was filled with surface treated and non- surface treated kaolin in different weight proportions. The filled resin was used for the preparation of laminates with glass fiber. The mechanical and electrical properties of these laminates were evaluated. Mechanical properties measured in this study include Izod impact, Rockwell Hardness and Flexural strength. Electrical properties measured were Arc resistance, Surface resistivity and Volume resistivity. The fillers (Surface treated and Non-surface treated) were compared based on their various measured properties.
