Ultrasonic velocity and density of binary mixtures of methanol, tetrahydrofuran, hexane and N,N- dimethylformamide containing acetophenone as common component, have been measured at 308.15 K over a wide range of composition. The measured ultrasonic velocities are compared with theoretical models of liquid mixtures such as Nomoto, Van Deal-Vangeal, Rao's specific velocity, collision factor and impedance dependence relations. The relative applicability of these theories to the present systems has been checked and discussed. The results are explained in terms of intermolecular interactions.
