5H-Dibenzo (b,f)azepinecarbohydrazide (2) was prepared from 5H-dibenzo(b,f)azepine carbonyl chloride (1) and hydrazine hydrate. (2) on reaction with different aldehydes gave substituted benzalhydrazinocarbonyl-5H-Dibenzo(b,f)azepine (3a-j). Substituted 4-thiazolidones (4a-j) have been prepared by the condensation of (3a-j) with mercaptoacetic acid. The structures of the synthesized compounds are characterized by spectral studies such as Infrared spectra, 1H PMR spectra and elemental analysis studies. The purity of the compound was checked by Thin Layer Chromatography (T.L.C).The synthesized compounds where screened for their antimicrobial activity.
